What is the color of envy?

Kelly green? Maybe not , but surely a 'color to envy'... if you were any other color!! Not only has it been ubiquitous on the design blogs for the last couple of years, it even has a name that could well belong to a hollywood star!!
Did you know that the name 'kelly green'  for this color is of Irish origin, where 'kelly' and 'green' are both very popular as a 'surname' and 'color' respectively!! Thankyou google...I never would have guessed!! You live...you learn!

For the last couple of years 'kelly green' has been more of a 'Kelly Wearstler green' to me...and that's not odd considering the more than generous use of this hue by the very talented Ms.Wearstler in her work as documented in numerous design magazines and blogs. She could well be the unofficial brand-ambassador for kelly green!!

Moving on...here's a big dose of kelly green in its various avatars for you to feast your eyes on....some of it you may have seen before..... but as Mae West once said, "too much of a good thing can be wonderful"!

Loved this post! One of the most dynamic and exciting colours.

Greetings from a designer on the other side of the globe ~ Melbourne, Australia ~ where I also love strong bright colours such as this! In fact, I have just finished a design for a house using kelly green glass bead floors. Can't wait till it is built!

ps ~ you have a great blog, btw!

Thankyou for stopping by, Virginia...I love this color too...When I was designing quilts a few years back...green was a color to be used sparingly...as it didn't go very well with most colors people would use in their bedrooms...but with kelly green things sure are different...more the merrier!!! Your house project sounds exciting...do share it on your blog when its ready.I'll be visiting your blog to say hello soon!!Cheers!!
